Hey! I’m Meagan, the trainer behind Rue & Oak.
Dogs have always been a part of my life, and I received my first dog as a Christmas gift at five years old. Thanks to Sam and many other pups, I thought dogs and training were simple. Ruger and Annie would quickly prove me wrong.
They challenged me in a way I truly wasn’t expecting, and I’ve have spent the last seven years learning, growing, implementing, and sharing all that I have learned.
I know firsthand that integrating a dog into your family isn’t always straightforward. Whether you are adding a dog for the first time or growing your pack, I want to come alongside you and help simplify that process. Mindset is the foundation of my approach and the starting point for building a life that is fun, adventurous, calm, and peaceful.
If you’d like a calmer home, clearer communication with your dog, improved obedience, or guidance before adding a dog to your home, I’d love to connect and work together.
This is a great option for someone who would like to work together in person with hands-on guidance, feedback, and tailored training plans.
We will customize the session to your goals but can cover everything from basic obedience, place / mindset work, reliable recall and leash manners, household manners, jumping, crate training, confidence building and reactivity.
The process begins with an application. If we are a good fit to work together, we will schedule a 30min virtual consultation. During the consultation we will discuss your goals, your dog’s history, and any training you have already implemented. We’ll also schedule your first 60min in person session.
During our in person sessions we’ll work through exercises, training, and real-life scenarios to work towards achieving the goals we have established. Following our session you will receive a customized guide based on your goals and the work we are doing, inclusive of specific details of how to simplify implement the learnings at home.
All subsequent in person sessions will be scheduled as 60min sessions.
Investment starts at $50 (mileage at $2/mile is added to the price for anyone further than 30 miles)
This is a great option you if you would like personalized guidance and support from the comfort of your own home. Through virtual coaching, we’ll work together to address your goals, troubleshoot challenges, and create a practical plan tailored to you and your dog.
The process begins with an application. If we are a good fit to work together, we will schedule your first 30-minute virtual coaching session. During this consultation, we’ll discuss your goals, your dog’s history, any training you’ve already implemented, and the challenges you’re currently facing. Together, we’ll identify the most important areas to focus on and create a clear path forward.
Your package includes a second 30-minute virtual coaching session scheduled approximately 2–4 weeks later. The timing will be determined during our initial consultation based on your goals and progress. This follow-up session provides an opportunity to review progress, troubleshoot any challenges that have come up, build on the work we’ve already started, and address any new questions you may have.
Investment: $40 for the two-session coaching package
I take a balanced, mindset-focused approach to training. While every dog and family is different, I consistently work with and may recommend tools such as prong collars, e-collars, slip leads, and place beds to support your training goals.
I view these tools as a means of creating clear communication and consistency for both the dog and the owner. Tools alone do not create lasting results, but when paired with clear expectations, proper implementation, and consistent follow-through, they can be valuable in helping you and your dog make meaningful progress together.
